The first morning, a diabetes educator entered Finn\u2019s room carrying a stack of information and began guiding Lydia and Shane through everything they would have to learn.<\/p>\n

This was not a question about who deserved credit.<\/p>\n
Lydia was learning to live with the reality that her son had been ill in front of her for weeks and she had not recognized what she was seeing.<\/p>\n
Every time someone called me the hero, it quietly placed her in the opposite role.<\/p>\n
That was not fair either.<\/p>\n
